LDEF WAS NASA SATELLITE DEPLOYED FROM SPACE SHUTTLE IN 1984. ITS 57 EXPERIMENTS INVOLVED MORE THAN 200 INVESTIGATORS FROM 10 COUNTRIES. EXPERIMENTS COVERED: 1. MATERIALS, COATINGS & THERMAL SYSTEMS; 2. POWER & PROPULSION; 3. SCIENCE; 4. ELECTRONICS & OPTICS.
