- Locomotive "Hercules" built by the Boston Locomotive Works and received on the European and North American Railway by vessel at Shediac, N.B. in June 1854, the first locomotive received for this railway, which was the first in New Brunswick. After being unloaded from the vessel the locomotive was allowed to remain in the vicinity of the wharf until after the snow came when it was placed on bobsleds and drawn by teams of horses to the railway shops to complete assembling of the parts. The snow made it more easy to transport the locomotive from the wharf to the shops.
