- Highland inn was build in 1908. A railway connecting Ottawa to Toronto stopped in front of the hotel. In 1956, the hotel was bought by the Government of Ontario with an effort to bring Algonquin Park back to nature. In 1957, the hotel was taken down. The location of the hotel is on cache lake.
