Canada: FLEET MFG. & AIRCRAFT CO. ATTEMPED TO DIVERSIFY AFTER THE WAR BY PRODUCING THE CABIN CAR IN 1947: IT WAS TO BE PRODUCED IN CANADA BY VINCENT MINING CORP. LTD. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CABIN CAR FAILED IN THE SAME YEAR. THESE MATRICES WERE USED IN THE UNSUCCESSFUL MARKETING CAMPAIGN OF THE CABIN CAR.
Function: THE MOULD FROM WHICH STEREOTYPE PRINTING PLATES ARE CAST.
Technical: MATRICES SUCH AS THESE WERE SENT BY ADVERTISERS TO NEWSPAPERS OR DEALERS IN ORDER THAT PLATES COULD BE PRODUCED WITH CUSTOMIZED DEALER TEXT INSERTIONS. THIS REDUCED THE COST OF SHIPPING STEREOTYPES AND PROVIDED DEALERS WITH FLEXIBILITY IN LOCALADVERTISING. THE COLUMN WIDTH PRODUCTION PRICE APPEARS ON TWO OF THE MATS.

Ad reads in part "GO THE/ Cabin Car/ WAY [exclamation mark]/...be your own boss...come and/ go as you please...up into the/ hills...down strange roads." and "DEALER'S NAME/ Street & Number City and State/ MANUFACTURED BY THE DESIGNERS OF FLEET AIRCRAFT"./ Following is complete ad text: "Here's the new high in travel comfort and convenience./ Complete inside living regardless of weather. Plenty of room/ for cooking, eating, lounging. Clothes and utility storage/ galore. Full size coil spring divan by day becomes soft/ double bed by night. You've just got to see the CabinCar/ to believe the inside living advantages and roominess prac-/ tical designing has accomplished. Streamlined station wagon/ style finish and beauty.
