MOVING IRON GALVANOMETERS WERE 1ST DISCUSSED BY G.C. PAGE (1845) BUT DIDN'T TAKE OFF COMMERICALLY'TIL 1880S. IDEA IS SIMILAR IN PRINCIPLE TO MARCEL DEPREZ'S "FISHBONE GALVANOMETER". A PIECE OF SOFT IRON WAS PUT IN A SOLENOID COIL BETWEEN POLES OF A POWERFUL PERMANENT MAGNET. (SEE COMPLETE WS IN S.I. & O:DRIVE S.I.) - Area Notes
