RAIL COMES IN A VARIETY OF WEIGHTS BASED UPON A ONE YARD LENGTH. EARLIER RAILS WERE GENERALLY AROUND 65 LBS (PER YD) WHILE RAIL TOWARD THE END OF THE CENTURY WAS 80 LBS. BY 1910 MAINLINE RAILS WERE 100 LBS. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF FAIRLY EARLY ROLLED STEEL RAIL. - Area Notes
