PATTERSON SHOWED THAT THE 3 CUP WHEEL WAS SUPERIOR TO THE ROBINSON 4 CUP WHEEL USED PREVIOUSLY WHICH IT SUPPLANTED. HISANEMOVANE COMBINED A 3 CUP WHEEL & A WIND VANE ON A CONCENTRIC DOUBLE SHAFT. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE EARLIEST VERSION, USED WITH AN ANEMOGRAPH ONLY (E.G. 870866, 870867). - Area Notes
