AN INSTRUMENT THAT MEASURES THE RADIANT HEAT OF THE SUN, REGISTERING THE HIGHEST OR MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE BY MEANS OF A COLUMN OF MERCURY, THE TOP OF WHICH REMAINS FIXED AT THE HIGHEST POINT THE MERCURY REACHES.

SIMILAR TO A THERMOMETER MARKETED IN THE LATE 1930'S BY N & Z FOR USEIN A MARIE DAVY TYPE ACTINOMETER. THIS CONSISTS OF TWO THERMOMETERS MOUNTED IN HERMETICALLY SEALED SHEATHS, ONE BRIGHT & THE OTHER BLACKENED, MOUNTED IN A WOOD BASE. IT ASCERTAINS APPROXIMATELY THE QUANITY OF HEAT RECEIVED BY THE EARTH FROM THE SUN.
