Markings: lettering printed below image reads: "From a painting in the LEACH CORPORATION HERITAGE OF THE AIR COLLECTION/CHINA'S GERMAN AIR FORCE/It was September 27, 1914. Oberleutnant zur See Gunther Pluschow, the entire German/Air Force in China, was responsible for guarding the skies above the German-leased colony/of Tsing-Tao. In the German Air Force's only air battle in China, Pluschow was suddenly/attacked by a Maurice Farman "Longhorn" Biplane, one of the ten Japanese planes used/in the Tsing-Tao campaign. Pluschow's only weapon was a Luger pistol. Maneuvering his/clumsy Rumpler Taube below the Japanese,Pluschow let go with thirty shots. Some hit/home and the Farman was forced to land, on November 27th, Tsing-Tao fell to Japanese/troops, and with it came the end of China's German Air Force as Pluschow made his way/back to Germany./ c1965 LEACH CORPORATION LITHO IN U.S.A."
