FLUROSCENT LIGHTING FIRST APPEARED ON THE MARKET IN 1938, AND GAINED POPULARITY DURING THE PERIOD 1940-1947. WHITE LAMPS ARE THE MOST EFFICIENT OF FLUORESCENT LAMPS USED FOR GENERAL ILLUMINATION. THESE TUBES ARE EXAMPLES OF THE "SLIMLINE" LAMP ANNOUNCED IN 1944. THEY HAVE AN AVERAGE LIFE OF 2,500 HOURS. - Area Notes
