THIS COLLECTION CONSISTS OF OVER 7500 ARTIFACTS, AND IS THOUGHT TO BE THE LARGEST & MOST COMPREHENSIVE IN CANADA. IT WAS DONATED IN ITS ENTIRETY TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY IN 1992.
Function: TO CONNECT AN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE WITH A POWER SUPPLY.
Technical: POLARIZED PLUGS WERE PROBABLY INTRODUCED IN CANADIAN ELECTRICAL CATALOGUES C. 1915. THE FINGER GRIP STYLE APPEARS TO BE AN INNOVATION OF THE 1930S, AND REMAINED POPULAR FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS THOUGH STYLES & MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION CHANGED.
