A switch of a type used in Canada, in particular in rural areas. Part of a large & varied collection of over 7500 electrical items acquired & documented by Ontario Hydro in the 1960s. The collection was thought to be the largest & most comprehensive of its kind in Canada & was donated to the National Museum of Science & Technology in 1992. - Function

Example of reciprocating switch which turned on-off in any direction (Ref. 3) ``To automatically trip the switch on overload. On removal of the overload the customer can restore his service by closing the switch thus eliminating service calls`` These switches were not in general use- in older rural areas to control problem services.
