GPS SUCCEEDS TRANSIT, THE FIRST NAVIGATION SATELLITE SYSTEM WHICH UTILIZED THE DOPPLER SHIFT MEASURED DURING A SINGLE SATELLITE PASS, A MUCH SLOWER PROCESS.
