his type of camera was produced and used in Canada between 1946-1952. Donor recalls camera purchased in 1949. It "was one of the first things I purchased when I started to work". Donor found camera took excellent pictures outdoors and stopped using it when film became unavailable (as per DGR. Kodak Canada was founded by Eastman Kodak in 1899 in a Toronto shop where employees cut sheet film and fitted lenses on cameras to support the growing potential for a photographic market in Canada. As Canadian interest in photography grew, the company expanded across the country throughout the 20th century to produce in all aspects of photography including still and movie cameras, film, x-ray film, photocopy paper, and photographic chemicals under many popular names including Brownie, Kodacolor, Carousel, and Supermatic.

This is a box type camera that uses 620 roll film with fixed focus lens. It has a negative size of 2 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches (6 x 9 cm) and produces prints, 3 x 4 ¼ inch in size (McKeown, 333). It is a redesign and continuation of the Target Brownie Six-20 camera (1941-1946). Advertised as being very simple to operate, it produced black and white or colour photos using a fixed focus meniscus lens, single action shutter and both horizontal and vertical format view finders. (KE – Notes). The name changed from Target Brownie (1941-1946) to Brownie Target (1946-1952) (McKeown, 333).
