Canada

Fairchild Aerial Surveys was developed by American businessman Sherman M. Fairchild in 1921. A year later, he established the Canadian subsidiary of this compagny, Fairchild Aerial Surveys Co. of Canada Ltd. Throughout the decade, Fairchild conducted aerial surveys of the nation (ref. 3 & 4). In 1924, he created the Fairchild Airplane Manufacturing Co. for the purpose of manufacturing aircrafts as platforms for aerial survey cameras (ref. 5). This model was developed by Fairchild Aerial Surveys for daylight reconnaissance photography during the Second World War (ref. 1).

Function

This device took 4" X 5" aerial photographs.

Technical

This model is a development of the K20. The electrical controls were connected to the cockpit, and the camera took 5 photos in 2 seconds, which was a significant technological devleopment. The camera could either be mounted to the turret rear or the rear gun (ref. 2).
