DEVICE USED TO MEASURE NEUTRON RADIATION. DETECTOR CONSISTS OF TINY DROPLETS OF SUPERHEATED LIQUID DISPERSED THROUGH ELASTIC POLYMER. WHEN DROPLETS ARE STRUCK BY NEUTRONS, THEY FORM SMALL GAS BUBBLES THAT REMAIN FIXED IN POLYMER TO PROVIDE REAL TIME VISUAL RECORD, WITH NUMBER OF BUBBLES INDICATING RADIATION LEVELS. THESE DETECTORS WERE USED ON SPACE STATION TO MONITOR NEUTRON LEVELS. - Technical
