This camera was probably used from the late 1950’s to the 1980’s by Mr. H. Eastwood, father of donor.

Mr. Eastwood was a serious amateur cinematographer, originally from England, but retired to Prince Edward Island at the end of his life. He made wildlife films for the BBC and for UN famine relief. He filmed in Africa, the Northwest Territories, Alaska, Mexico and other places in North America.

Technical

The Paillard-Bolex was one of the world's most popular "amateur" cine cameras in use in the 1950’s. The reflex, introduced in 1956, included a "revolutionary reflex system" which allowed viewing & focusing through the lens before as well as during shooting. It was especially good for titling, special effects and extreme close-ups [ref 1].
