Function: EMULATOR & INTERFACE UNITS OF COMPUTER SYSTEM USED TO DEVELOP PC MOTHER BOARDS, ROM BIOS INSTRUCTION SETS, ETC. & TO TEST HARDWARE & SOFTWARE PRODUCTS. EMULATOR MODULE PROVIDES IN-CIRCUIT EMULATION FOR MICROPROCESSOR, BY MEANS OF INTERFACE & CABLE LINKING IT TO USER SYSTEM.
Technical: PART OF SYSTEM WHICH IS EXAMPLE OF EARLY 1980S MICROCOMPUTER DEVELOPMENT EQUIPMENT. DIFFERENT MODULES COULD BE ATTACHED TO CPU TO EMULATE SPECIFIC INTEL MICROCHHIPS. COMPUTER COULD THEN EMULATE PC WITH THAT CHIP TO RUN SOFTWARE TO ANALYSE OPERATION OF HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE, & ENABLE IMPROVEMENTS.
