Captain John Henry Tudhope's typewritten narrative of shooting down an Albatross on December 15, 1917 over Douai, France, in an S.E.5a J.H. Tudhope was with the Royal Flying Corps, posted to 40 Squadron. He received the Military Cross and the Bar to the Military Cross for his outstanding achievements as a WW1 ace, with a total of 10 victories. He was a winner of the Trans Canada (McKee) Trophy in 1930, a member of Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame, and a pilot for Trans Canada Airlines. In July 1937, in a Lockheed Electra, he and J. D. Hunter completed the first dawn-to-dusk trans-Canada flight, between Montréal and Vancouver, in 17 hours and 35 minutes.
