Reciprocating compressor was the most common type employed in domestic refrigeration c. 1930s-1960, and possibly later, and was usually belted to the pulley of an electric motor. A discharge and suction valve controls the flow of refrigerant from and to the compressor. Relatively simple to manufacture and maintain, this type of compressor is extremely durable. - Area Notes

- "DOMINION BLOWER CO. LTD./ BRANTFORD" cast in raised print on one side of compressor casing. [obscure] IST" cast in raised print on fitting on top of compressor.

- Appears complete.
- Finish
- Original finish obscured by repainting. Cast iron and possibly other metal painted black. Bright, matte-finish brass fitting on compressor top. Compressor mounted on white synthetic block by CSTMC.
