Canada: Table used in practice of (original) donor Dr. H.O.MacNamara, possibly in Scarborough, Ont. area, c. 1920-1930. (ref. 2) Part of a large collection of medical artifacts, archival material & trade literature transferred to CSTM in 2002 from the former History of Medicine Museum, Toronto, On.
Function: To support a tray to hold medical instruments and connect it to the table.
Technical: Example of small functional table of the type used to hold instruments, dressings, etc. This table is fitted with two brackets which could be used to hold a bowl or basin, and an instrument tray. This type of table may have been used to hold instruments used in minor surgeries (ie. cleaning and suturing wounds).
