Technical: CONVENTIONAL MICROSCOPE BODY FITTED INTO A PROPORTIONATELY LARGE FLARING BASE, IN THE BOTTOM OF WHICH IS A SPRUNG REFLECTOR WHICH HOLDS PREPARED SLIDES. RECESSED FLAT BLACK PLATE WHICH FORMS BOTTOM FRAMES REFLECTOR BOWL DESIGNED TO BE HELD UP TO A LIGHT SOURCE. (REF. 2)

Markings: No markings visible. UHN catalogue no. "X969.178 O" handwritten in white ink on casing
Missing: [Damaged] rectangular glass box, open at top. Designed by Lister in 1834. A third glass plate is placed inside the open trough and positioned forwards/backwards within the space, using spacers [missing]. This compresses the specimen, for ease in focusing the microscope.
