KLENG EK IS MOST POPULAR TRADITIONAL BAMBOO & PAPER KITE OF CAMBODIA, WHERE KITE FESTIVALS EXISTED SINCE 972; THEY ARE ALSO FLOWN OVER RICE FIELDS DURING HARVEST. KLENG EK KITES HAVE ATTACHED WHISTLES OR HARPS WHICH MOAN IN WIND & ARE INTENDED TO ATTRACT SPIRITS TO RECEIVE PRAYERS. FOR NIGHT FLYING, KITES HAVE CANDLES ATTACHED WHICH TURN THEM INTO VERITABLE FLYING LANTERNS (REF. 1). - Area Notes
