Accessory used with Wild A8 Autograph [2004.1361], used in Canada's national mapping program c. 1960s-early 1990s, an example of one of the last analogue plotting devices used by the Topographic Service of Canada. With the exception of the Wild A10 [few of which were used in Canada], the A8 was the most sophisticated plotter available before digital technology. - Function

This light assembly could be used with both the model A7 and A8 Autograph plotters, When mounted on the under-table shelf, it illuminated the glass plotting table. This illumination was necessary when setting scale and during compilation. [Ref. 2] A size-appropriate illumination system was available as optional extra-cost eq., and was recommended for use with both the 100 x 100 cm and 110 x 140 cm plotting tables.
