This orienting press was used by the vendor to print display cards for Caplan’s Department Store and Giant Tiger stores. Cette presse à orienter étais utilisé par le donateur pour imprimer des pancartes pour le Grand Magasin Caplan ainsi que pour les magasins Tigre Géant.

Function

This drawer was used to house items for a printing press that produced limited numbers of small size posters otherwise known as showcards in twelve different fonts. Ce tiroir était utilisé pour tenir des objets d'une presse à imprimer pour produire des pancartes ou des affiches publicitaires en douze fontes différentes.

Technical

The Line-O-Scribe printing press uses standard metal and wood display types. It represents a simple hand-operated showcard press. The press works on the travelling cylinder principle. The operator pulls a small-diameter impression cylinder over the back of a card which has been placed face down on the press’s inked types. Cette presse à imprimer nommée le Line-O-Scribe utilise des caractères plomb et de bois. Il représente une presse à pancartes simple qui est opérable à la main. Il fonctionne sur le principe d'un cylindre voyageant. L'opérateur tire un cylindre de contre-pression a petit diamètre sous le dos d'une carte qui est placée face cachée sur les fonderies typographiques qui sont recouvertes avec de l'encre pour former une impression.

Finish

A metal drawer that has a metal handle on its front. It is rectangular in shape and has a folded front lip. The drawer is painted black and is kept inside of the printing press (2004.2087.001). Inside the drawer is a spacer collection (2004.2087.038) made of metal, wood, and synthetic material. Un tiroir fait en métal de couleur noire qui a une manche en métal situé sur le devant du tiroir. Il est fait en forme rectangulaire et le tiroir a une lèvre pliée sur le devant de l'objet en haut de la manche. Le tiroir est conçu pour faire partie d'une presse d'imprimerie (2004.2087.001). À l'intérieur du tiroir il y a une collection de butoirs (2004.2087.038) qui sont faits et matériel en métal, en bois et synthétiques.
