The first electric mixers offered on the market in the 1920's looked more like milkshake mixers except for the Hobart Co.'s household model called KitchenAid introduced around 1920, mounted on a cast base. But as it was expensive, it was not very popular. In 1931, the Chicago Flexible Shaft Co. (Sunbeam) introduced the Mixmaster at a cheaper price which rapidly gained public acceptance. - Function
