As per curatorial worksheet "The construction of the CP railway line was a promise made to persuade British Columia to enter into the Confederation by joining the commerce between the west and the east. Between 1880 and 1885, thousands of Chinese workers came from China to work on the project, as cheap labor, particularly to build the extremely difficult line from Yale to Eagle Pass, B.C.
