The patent on this style of iron relates to the internal fuel reservoir that is built into the rear of the handle rather than being separated from the iron. Because of this innovation, the user was able rest the iron in a vertical position [resting on the handle] rather than leaving it flat on an iron stand when not in use. - Area Notes
