Period: This plate is a sample only: not designed to be affixed to a motor vehicle. This type of plate issued in 2009.
Canada: Le Nunavut a été formé le 1er avril 1999 suite à sa séparation des Territoires du Nord-Ouest. Il s'agit du plus jeune et du plus grand territoire au Canada. Son nom signifie Notre terre en inuktitut. Sa population est en majorité formée d'Inuit (2006 : 83.6 %) En accord avec la création de ce nouveau territoire et les lois, une nouvelle plaque d'immatriculation a vu le jour aussi en 1999. Il s'agit en fait d'une copie de la plaque utilisée dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest (utilisée depuis 1970), soit à l'effigie d'un ours polaire et utilisant le même slogan " Explore Canada's Arctic ".
