The Bill Mason collection consists of typical cameras and other equipment in the 16 mm format widely used by documentary film makers in Canada in this period. Nikon FE is a compact 35mm single-lens-reflex camera with aperture-priority automatic exposure control with shutter speeds from 1/1000 second down to 8 seconds; interchangeable focusing screens; and accepts the optional MD-11 [2010.0214] for motor-driven exposures up to 3.5 frames per second. "IS MOTOR DR./ OFF" printed by hand in green marker on masking tape label applied to camera body, near flash shoe mounting. "MADE IN JAPAN" stamped into base. "M2505 271135 08" crudely incised in base.
