Contemporary example of bag used to carry air mail. Canada became involved in air mail in the 1920s - late compared to many other countries. Shipping post by aircraft has since become ubiquitous. This bag was used to carry mail from Great Britain to Canada. The donor received the bag with its contents from a Canada Post carrier. Postal services have contracts with airlines or courier companies to carry air mail. Air Canada has a long time contract – from before the 1960s - with Royal Mail to deliver mail from London to Canadian destinations. In 2010, Air Canada carried 2.7 million kilos of Royal Mail mail. Air Canada also carries air mail for USPost, LaPoste, Deutsche Post, Swiss Post, Ireland Post, Korea Post, China Post, Japan Post, Hong Kong Post, Australia Post, Red Post Columbia, Bermuda Post, Belgium Post, and Jamaica Post. This bag has been specially designed for carrying mail. The four hooks at the bag’s mouth attach the bag to a frame so that mail can easily be placed in the bag. Ce sac a été conçu spécialement pour transporter du courrier.
