Designed by Ampex engineer George Brettell and first introduced in 1954, the 620 is a high-quality, portable amplified loudspeaker. According to Leslie and Snyder: “To this day, many audio enthusiasts consider the 620 one of the most natural-sounding speaker systems ever made” (2010, p. 8). It pairs with an Ampex 601 tape recorder, as part of a portable “suitcase” unit (see 2013.0666). - Area Notes

- Hard-bodied lid with two gold coloured metal clips. The sides of the lid has brown leather edging with yellow stitching. The interior of the lid has four brown leather straps to secure the power cord.
