This piece has limited historical significance, but is an interesting example of the material culture of Canadian exhibition competition. The Central Canada Exhibition was founded in 1888 and, like other regional seasonal fairs, was an arena for exhibiting and celebrating technological developments in arts and industries, including agriculture. The exhibition was located at what is now Landsdowne Park: the Cattle Castle, an exhibition building, is a historically significant example of exhibition architecture. - Function
