This telephone was made as one of the development stages of telecommunications giant Nortel’s Nortel One cellular telephone. This telephone grew out of the Orbitor project and was referred to internally as Europa. The Europa project was cancelled in the summer of 1998, after the phone had been launched and was ready to go to production. This cancellation was part of Nortel’s decision to focus on providing telecommunications networks. This is one of 30 or 40 fully functioning preproduction Nortel One/Europa cellular telephones made by Nortel. Touchscreen cellular telephones that connected to the internet were not publicly available until Apple introduced the iPhone in 2007. The Europa was a cellular telephone with java enabled web browsing that could send and receive messages and emails. It had a touchscreen activated with a stylus. Finish

A black synthetic battery with white writing on its inner face. It has several symbols on its inner face in the same colour. The top of the battery has metal contact fingers as well as several ridges. The back of the battery is made of the same smooth black synthetic material. Une batterie de couleur noire fait avec du matériel synthétique qui a un lettrage blanc sur sa face intérieur. Il y a des symboles de la même couleur qui sont visibles sur cette face aussi. Le dessus de la batterie à des doigts de contact qui sont faits en métal. Le dessus de la batterie a aussi des rainures à côté des doigts.
