David Findlay came to Canada from Scotland in 1858. He made Perth, Ontario his home for the first few years before moving to Carleton Place. In 1876 he began his cast-iron pan production. By 1889 his two sons had bought the enterprise and continued the operation under the name Findlay Bros and eventually Findlay Bros. Co., Ltd. In 1932 the company streamlined its name to Findlays Limited. The company was bought in 1965 by an expansion company from Montreal called Corpex before it eventually closed its doors for good in 1974. David Findlay est venu au Canada en provenance de l'Écosse vers 1858. Il s'établit à Perth en Ontario puis déménagea à Carleton Place. En 1876, il commença la production de poêles. En 1889, les deux fils achètent l'entreprise et continuèrent l'opération sous le nom de Findlay Bros. qui devint plus tard Findlay Bros. Co., Ltd. En 1932, la firme devint Findlays Limited. Used as for its durability across a wide margin of temperatures as well as for its superior heat retention, the cast iron pan is favored as cooking tool for everything from meat to vegetables as well as desserts. Today pans are seasoned in order to create a non-stick surface to facilitate cleaning as well as to prevent the pan from rusting. Utiliser pour sa durabilité sous des températures variées ainsi que pour son habilité de retenir de la chaleur, le poêle à frire en fonte est l'outil préféré pour la viande, les légumes et le dessert. - A black cast iron pan with a small slit in its handle as well as a maker's mark on the back of the pan. Une poêle à frire noire en fonte avec un trou dans sa manche et une marque du fabricateur sur sont dessous.
