- Launching of the SS Charlottetown at the Davie Shipbuilding Co., Lauzon, Quebec. Placed in use to PEI from the Mainland July 26, 1931; sank 1941. The car ferry could handle 16 freight cars and 45 automobiles as well as 800 passengers. When placed in service it was the strongest icebreaker-ferry ever built.
