- New locomotive power for National Railways - Loco 6235 - This is the first of 30 powerful Northern type locomotives ordered for the Canadian National Railways from the Montreal Locomotive Works and marked for wartime duties in getting munitions and supplies to the seaports. Designed by Canadian National engineers, it is regarded as a most useful type of engine. R.C. Vaughan, Chairman and President of the National System, inspected the first unit and expressed satisfaction that deliveries are beginning. "The railway needs all the power available", he commented.
