- One of the world's pioneer diesel locomotives noted in Canada's railway motive power history and which recently underwent remodelling, about to roll out of the Canadian National Railways' Station at Moncton, on the run between that city and Quebec. After pioneering the way, locomotive 9000 was turned over to the Canadian Government on the outbreak of war with Japan and was converted into the motive power for an armored train for use on the Pacific Coast. With the threat of invasion removed from the Pacific Coast, locomotive 9000 was turned back to the Canadian National Railways where it was reconditioned and put into regular passenger train service.
