- "Say hello to the folks in Capreol", says Roy Robinson, Brakeman, to George Mantha, Brakeman, leaving for a run to their home town. Both men hold their room by the month at the Hornepayne railway "Y", so they room together. This gives them a break at their runabout town as they know their room is waiting with clean linen and a good bed, and showers, laundry, and kitchen facilities are all available to them. The monthly room rate is $20 (twenty) to "Y" members. Annual membership in the "Y" is five dollars ($5.00). Rooms in private homes average $15.00 a week with no privileges. Few homes have running water available for showers in these remote towns.
