- Friendly council or religious guidance is never far away from the railway Y.M.C.A. Troubled men away from home have access to local ministers who pay house calls to the building. Here Rev. Matthew Taylor of the United Church at Hornepayne reads a consoling passage from the Bible to a railroader. Fundamentally an organization contributing to a Christian life for men, the "Y" was founded in 1844 by the holding of a prayer meeting in a London drapery shop. It has grown progressively through the years to its present status as it was increasingly recognized the great place it had as morale builder in society.
