It was possibly the second such tunnel in Canada and, was located at the Institute for Aerophysics, at the University of Toronto. At the time, the Institute was headed by Dr. Gordon Patterson. Assisting in the development of supersonic wind tunnels were Irvine I. Glass and Gerald Bull.

Function

The supersonic wind tunnel with a 16 in x 16 in test bed came from the Institute of Aerophysics, University of Toronto. It was used for basic research in aerophysics such as in the investigation of fundamental problems in high speed gas dynamics.
