OBSERVING THE SUN WAS NOT A NEW PHENOMENA, BUT PHOTOGRAPHING IT WAS STILL A FAIRLY NEW TECHNOLOGY. THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SET-UP IN WHICH THESE LENSES WERE USED CONTINUED TO OPERATE UNTIL 1919. THE LENSES THEMSELVES ARE 2 OR 3 ELEMENT ACHROMATIC LENSES, MFD BY THE BEST TELESCOPE MAKER IN BRITAIN OF THE PERIOD. - Area Notes
