Used by Bertram Harrison Plimer (1928 - 2009). Plimer was born in Scotland and came to Canada in c.1950. Plimer was a freelance cinematographer who worked for television stations and networks, such as CBC, CJOH, and CTV. According to his wife, Elizabeth Greene, Plimer also worked on documentaries throughout his 30 year career.

Function

Technical

The Paillard-Bolex was one of the world’s most popular “amateur” cine cameras in use in the 1950s. Similar to the Bolex H16, the Bolex H16 Reflex is a 16mm movie camera for 100’ spools, with automatic film threading, an optical eye-level finder, spring motor, and a black leather-covered metal body. The Reflex, introduced in 1956, included a “revolutionary reflex system,” or “eye-level reflex thru-the-lens viewfinder,” which allowed viewing & focusing through the lens before as well as during shooting. It was especially good for tilting, special effects and extreme close ups. Interchangeable lenses mounted on a 3-lens turret.
