This camera was purchased in Ottawa, Ontario in 1961 prior to the donor's wedding. He brought it with him when he attended the University of Oxford and, during this four year period, it was used on trips to England, Wales, Scotland, France and Germany, amongst others. In 1991, it was replaced by a Canon EOS 10s. Cette appreil-photo a été acheté à Ottawa, Ontario en 1961 avant le mariage du donateur. Le donateur a apporté l'appareil-photo avec lui lorsqu'il étudiait à l'Université d'Oxford et durant cette période de quatre ans il l'a utilisé sur quelques voyages en Angleterre, Pays de Galles, France et en Allemagne, parmi d'autres. En 1991, le donateur a remplacé cet appareil-photo avec un Canon EOS 10s.

The Asahi Pentax S3 was presented at the 1969 Photokina (the world's largest trade fair for photographic and imaging industries). The Pentax S3 was Asahi's first SLR to use the right-hand single-stroke film advance lever. During its production run, the clip-on Asahi Pentax Meter became available, requiring a notch in the shutter-speed dial to engage. Its scale indicates directly the aperture value to be set at the lens. The camera features a 1/1000 sec top shutter speed and a faster Auto-Takumar1: 1.8/55mm standard lens. L'Asahi Pentax S3 a été présenté à Photokina 1969 (le plus grand et important salon de la photographie au monde). Le modèle Pentax S3 était le premier modèle reflex mono-objectif d'Asahi qui utilise le levier droit d'armement rapide. Lors de sa production, le mètre ajustable d'Asahi Pentax est devenu disponible nécessitant une encoche dans la molette de vitesse d’obturation pour s’enclencher. L'échelle indique directement la valeur d'ouverture de la lentille. Cet appareil-photo a une vitesse d'obturation maximale 1/1000 et une lentille standard plus rapide Auto-Takumar 1: 1.8/55m.

Small and compact camera. Camera has a silver coloured metal body with some black leathering on the grip sections of the camera. Each side of the camera has a silver coloured belt ring to possibly attach a strap. The top of the camera has three black rotating dials that are numbered. The top of the camera also has a silver screw attachment. The camera has several small silver metal screws along the metal body. Camera has black text over the metal body section. Petite appareil-photo compacte. L'appareil photo a un corps argenté en métal avec du cuir noir pour les sections de précisions de la caméra. Chaque côté de l'appareil-photo a un anneau argenté pour attacher une bretelle. Le dessus de l'appareil a trois boutons qui sont énumérés. Le dessus de l'appareil a aussi un attachement de vise argenté. L'appareil a plusieurs vis en métal argenté ainsi que de l'écriture noir.
