- MICROPHONE: 'THE STOLZ ELECTROPHONE/ CHICAGO, U.S.A.' CAST IN RAISED PRINT ON FRONT; '6062' ETCHED IN CASING SIDE/.2 SWITCH LABELLED 'ON OFF'/ CASE: ‘THE "ELECTROPHONE"/ Stolz Electrophone Co. In./ 92 STATE ST. CHICAGO, U.S.A./ FOREIGN BRANCH 82-85 FLEET ST. LONDON, ENGLAND' EMBOSSED IN GOLDTONE ON BOX LID. TEXT OF INSTRUCTION SHEET, INSIDE CASE LID: ‘DIRECTIONS-VERY IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ. Directions for using the Stolz Electrophone.- When you wish to use the Electrophone, turn on the current by pressing over the little switch of the receiver from "off" to "on". This turns on the current, and by placing the side of the earpiece with the large hole in the center of it against the transmitter you get a whistling sound. This indicates that the Electrophone is ready for use./ Be sure that the transmitter of the Electrophone is always in an upright position, whether you use it connected directly with the batteries or with the connecting cord. The side of the earpiece with the large hole in the center should be place against the ear and held firmly against the ear in order to get the best results./ You will notice that the Electrophone will not work when laid flat on its back, and for this reason it should always be kept in as nearly an upright position as possible./ When the Electrophone is not used in conversation, be sure and turn off the current. Unless you do this the batteries soon exhaust themselves. By changing the batteries every few days they recuperate and regain strength by being allowed to rest./ TO CHANGE BATTERIES: When using connecting cord simply loosen the two screws that hold the metal ends to the connecting prongs of the battery, and substitute new battery; then fasten the screws again. Note that one of the prongs is larger than the other and that the metal ends fits accordingly. Turn the screws down firmly so that there is no loose connection to cause rattling, but take care not to break off the connecting prongs./ When using the transmitter attached directly to batteries, loosen the smalls screws at the bottom of the metal supports fastened to the transmitter; then lift off the transmitter and replace the other battery. You will notice one prong of the battery is larger than the other. They fit in corresponding holes in the nickel plated connections of the transmitter case. Use the small screw driver we furnish. WARNING- Readjustments that are necessary on account of the Electrophone being thrown out of adjustment, which may happen through rough handling during shipment and ordinary repairs we make without charge to our patrons, as it is our........'.
