Canada: Part of a large collection of medical artifacts, archival material & trade literature transferred to CSTM in 2002 from the former History of Medicine Museum, Toronto, ON.
Fonction: A fabric cuff with an inflatable band that is wrapped around the upper arm and used in conjunction with a measurement device to measure blood pressure. This cuff was used with a sphygmomanometer.

Marques: Fabric label sewn to cuff reads "Tycos/ Taylor Instrument Companies/ ROCHESTER, N.Y., U.S.A./ ARTERY/ LEFT/ ARM/ RIGHT/ ARM" AND DIRECTIONAL ARROWS. "B-D/ RUTHERFORD, N.J. USA" stamped into bulb.
Manque: Missing screw to adjust pressure to bulb; length of tubing to connect gauge to cuff. NB: gauge [now .1] has become separated from cuff.
Fini: Cream-colour cotton cover over rubber cuff band, tubing and bulb; silver metal connectors fitted to tubing.
