Used by Gilbert Edward Warner (June 16, 1889 – July 9, 1960) to make movies of his family during vacations, parties, or family events in Montreal from the 1930s to the 1950s. The film was brought to the drugstore for development. Mr. Warner was an auditor and payroll employee for the Canadian Pacific Railroad.

Technique

Eastman Kodak introduced 8mm film cine camera film format in 1932. Standard 16mm film was run through the camera twice, first down one side and then the other after it was rethreaded. After the film was developed it was split lengthwise and the two pieces were spliced end to end to make a single 50-foot length of 8mm wide film for projection. The new product made home filming more affordable to amateur cinematographers. After attempting to develop an alternative pre split film, Bell & Howell introduced its own line of double 8 equipment in 1935. The camera had a 12.5 mm f/2.5 lens, an aperturel range of 2.5-16, a detailed exposure guide, a spring motor, and film speeds of 16-64 fps.
