FROM 1 TO 25 BELOW/ 'RELEASE' INCISED ON HOT SHOE LEVER/ Markings on cardboard cylinder which fits over roll read: ‘Thor/ AUTOMATIC/ TRADE MARK/ GLADIRON/ IRON A SHIRT/ IN 4 ½ MINUTES/ AUTOMAGICALLY/ TURN ROLL/ AND SEE HOW/ Operates with a single knee lever/ Folds to closest size and tucks away/ The Gladiron turns out perfectly ironed shirts in minutes because/ the patented Gladiron roll slips INSIDE the sleeves - Tricky pieces/ like shirts, pyjamas, puffed sleeve dresses are no trick to iron with a/ Gladiron...you just slip them over the roll (no other ironer has one/ like it) and guide them through. And you do it sitting down...using/ a single knee lever from start to finish!/ Place shirt in position on the roll/ like this - Put your left arm through the/ left sleeve of the shirt (label side/ should be towards you) and draw it over/ the roll. Continue drawing shirt to the/ right until the right sleeve is well over the roll and left sleeve and/ body of shirt hang loosely over roll support housing at the extreme right./ TO IRON - move knee/ lever to right as far as it will/ go and release it./ TO STOP - again move/ knee lever to right as far as/ it will go and release it./ TO PRESS - move knee lever half way to/ the right and hold it in this position with your/ knee. This stops the roll without raising the shoe./ 1 PLACE SHIRT IN POSITION ON ROLL AND IRON FIRST SLEEVE/ Place the sirt on the roll (as shown at left)/ so roll is inside the right sleeve and the seam/ where the cuff joins the sleeve lines up with/ left end of roll./ Smooth sleeve on roll so that underarm/ seam will be at the back of the roll./ 2 IRON SHOULDER AND BACK OF YOKE/ Move shirt to left until collar band lines up/ with right end of roll. Iron down to first but-/ ton. Now centre unironed portion of yoke and/ adjust roll to start six or seven inches below/ back of collar. Iron to collar seam and stop. Raise shoe and move shirt to left until left/ shoulder in lined up with right end of roll./ Iron over shoulder to first button-hole. Now/ place the second sleeve in position and iron/ exactly as you did the first sleeve./ 3 IRONING THE REST OF YOUR SHIRT IS SIMPLY FLATWORK/ Centre the back of the shirt on the roll and/ iron from tail to ironed portion of yoke./ Take shirt by collar and draw it toward/ you to again bring tail to starting point./ Move shirt to left and iron up button-hole/ side to armhole. Adjust to avoid armhole and/ iron to first button-hole. Turn shirt over and/ iron button side of front the same way but/ with buttons cushioned against roll./ Iron cuffs around the left end of roll, first/ on the wrong side, then on the right side./ Iron collar centred on roll (the long way)/ first on the wrong side, then on the facing side./ Fold collar down and press to set fold.'/ Metal plate on back of body reads: ‘CAUTION/ FOR USE ONLY ON WALL/ OR BASE RECEPTACLE./ DO NOT USE THIS MACHINE/ IN ANY DAMP LOCATION/ OR NEAR WATER PIPES/ OR OTHER GROUNDED/ METAL.'
