A MODEL OF THE FIRST MEDIUM SCALE CANDU REACTOR. THE CANDU REACTOR USES HEAVY WATER AS THE MODERATOR OF THE REACTIONS TAKING PLACE IN THE CALANDRIA. THIS MAKES IT SAFER AND MORE EFFICIENT THAN OTHERS BUT ALSO INCREASES THE COST BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE OF THE WATER.
