- Plate mounted on generator reads " EDISON/ GENERAL ELECTRIC/ COMPANY/ CANADIAN WORKS/ PETERBOROUGH, ONT."; second plate reads "PATENTED/ OCT. 9, 1880 MAR. 13, 1881/ TYPE 4/ 125 VOLTS/ NO. 612". Decal applied to housing reads "THE HYDRO/ HISTORICAL/ ELECTRICAL/ COLLECTION". Red dymo tape labels on generator marked "MC.3.12 and "COMPOUND". "9" stencilled in gold on one side, near generator casing top. Plate fixed to base reads "DEPARTMENT/ ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING/ MCGILL UNIVERSITY/ MONTREAL/ MACHINE NO. [blank]/ PRESENTED BY/ [blank]".
